It's okay to relax and recharge
So, today I spent most of the day relaxing. I felt the need to slow it all the way down so that I could recharge. It was sunny and mild out and I thought of all kinds of things I could be doing. But, I have been doing quite a bit lately, and with my dad being ill, adding daily hospital visits to an already busy day can become quite overwhelming. So I took today to rest. To give my body and my mind some down time. This is sho-nuff growth for me, because last year I would not have done that. I would not have admitted that I needed to slow down. It was a sign of weakness to me, and I was not trying to be a weakling. Ya'll that are reading this who know me personally know it's the truth :)
A lot of you reading this also find it hard to sit still. You are always feeling the need to be doing something. I know. I feel you. It is hard to do nothing when the house is messy, the laundry needs to be done, that report is waiting for you to finish it.
My mom is one of those women who can't be still. she is always doing something. Over the holidays we wanted her to sit down and be catered to. Well that did not happen. She was up busy catering to everyone else. It's the way she has always been.
So how many of you are the same way? Feeling guilty if you are not doing something? Always ripping and running? At the beck and call of others? Well starting this month let one of your goals be to have a Relax and Recharge day. It is not going to be easy for some of you. the guilt is going to attack you. But do it for you, you really need to add this self-care component into your life. Here are 4 tips to get you started.
1. Choose a day and time for your Relax and Recharge Day
2. Decide what activity or activities you will do during this time. (Soak in a warm bubble bath, read , sleep, get a massage, etc) It's your day. you get to choose.
3. Find a place where you won't be disturbed (no kids, no spouse)
4. Enjoy!
Remember it's your time!
