Take Time For You

A funny thing happened the other day. It was a very busy day. I had been running from the time I got to the office. There were several fires that I had to put out. I had taken several "important" telephone calls and answered several "important" emails. On this particular day it seemed like everything was a priority. As soon as I would finish one task there would be another one waiting. Well I was sitting at my desk, listening to a woman on the phone complaining (I don't even remember why now) but I was letting her get it off her chest when I happened to look down and saw my right arm(bicep) jumping beneath my sweater. As she went on and on, I occupied myself with looking at my arm. It was a strange feeling and a strange sight.. When the woman finally stopped talking I ended the call and continued to look at my arm. It was just jumping away and it was at that time that I noticed that my heart was beating faster and my breathing quicker. What was going on? Heart attack? Stroke? All morning I had been moving at warp speed and I was feeling pressured and overwhelmed. I knew I needed to do something.

What did I do? I'm glad you asked. I closed the door and sat back down. I concentrated on slowing my breathing by taking slow deep breaths. Just inhaling and exhaling. I also closed my eyes and visualized myself sitting on the beach in Puerto Rico. I could feel myself calming down. I had a glass of water nearby and I took several long sips. And then I prayed. I asked God to show me which tasks were priority and which ones I could put aside for a later time.

Does this sound like you? Running from the time you wake up until the time you go to bed? Are you so busy doing for others that you forget to do for yourself? Do you continue to put you last?

If you answered yes to even one of these questions, you need to make some changes right now. You cannot continue to go, go, go, without stopping to fill yourself up. Make a promise to yourself that every day you are going to carve some "me" time into your day. Remember, you're worth it. It's Your Time!
