My tips to living your best life
If you know me, then you know I am always talking about living my best life, or living my life like its golden. When I first started singing this song a few years back, I had no idea what it really meant for me to live my best life. To be like Jill Scott sang and live my life like it was golden. 2019 was a year full of lessons for me. It was when I really had an opportunity to start living my best life. (Maybe I will share some of my lessons in future blogs).
Some people equate living your best life with having a lot of fancy things, traveling first class. etc. At first that was my thought also. I envisioned me wearing only designer duds , having someone cook my meals, traveling to far away places and doing things that it takes a lot of money to do. That sounds good and I am still down for that. But when I really started to live my best life I found that it was much simpler, and easier to achieve too. It only took some effort on my part, and could be achieved with little to no money. Here, I share some of my tips for living my best life.
First, you need to believe that you deserve it. Believe that you are worthy of good things happening to, and for you. Stop thinking that things are too good to be true, when good things are happening and you keep waiting for something bad to happen. Then you need to remove the relationships in your life that don't support you or the life you are creating. This is a big one. Sometimes we stay in relationships long after we need to be gone. I'm not just talking about romantic relationships either. I'm talking about all relationships. If they make you feel bad, they need to go. There are some friendships that need to be checked. There are those friends who make you feel bad, or not smart enough, or less than when you are around them. Don't continue to stick with people who make you feel bad about yourself, your situation, your job, your lack of education, etc. They gotta go girl. Then you need to make sure that you take time for YOU! You need to allow time for you to do the things that you want to do. Put you on the calendar. During this time you need to get to know you. You need to use it to do the things you want to do. Also invest in your growth. Sometimes we have a problem paying the money for things that will only improve us. Stop being stingy when it comes to you.
Girl, let's stop talking about that diet. When you hear the word diet, you already feel deprived. Why not change that to saying you have a new way of eating. Choosing to put healthier foods in your engine. And while you are at it, move your body. Whether it is going to the gym, walking in the park or dancing the night away. Just start moving. Then you need to create routines. I find that the best way for me to accomplish anything is to have it written down. I have a "to do" list. I have my planner. I use my calendar. I have a morning routine and an evening routine. Some people meal prep on Sunday's, or plan their outfits for the upcoming week. Whatever routine helps you, then you need to make sure to incorporate it in your life. Finally, do the things you love. Don't wait until a better time. Now is the time. If you want to live your best life, you have to first make the decision...and then as Nike says, Just Do It!
