Benefits of Drinking Lemon Water



People are always talking about how they start the day with warm lemon water, or drink warm lemon water before meals or before they go to bed at night. Some people drink it all during the day. People also drink lukewarm or room temperature water. Yuck. I hate room temperature water. Actually I am not much of a water drinker. But when I do drink it, I love lots of ice. Or I want the water icy cold. So imagine my surprise a few months ago when a friend told me that cold water was not good for you. She said that it shocked your system or hardened your arteries or some such stuff. She went on to tell me that drinking my water lukewarm was much better. For who? Certainly not me, remember I already don't really care for water.


Recently I was at dinner with a friend and he ordered warm lemon water with his meal. Of course I had ordered a tall glass of water with you guessed it...lots of ice. "You really should try drinking warm water with lemon before your meals" he said. "It is good for you" "Whatever" I said as I took a long swig of my cold water and immediately got brain freeze. "Can I have a sip of your water?" I asked as I held the side of my head.


The water was warm and it felt good going down. Needless to say I took his water and the next day I decided to try the warm water with lemon first thing in the morning. It felt good and tasted good too. Then at lunch I ordered warm lemon water before my meal came out. I think I'm hooked. I googled the benefits of lemon water and found that there are actually great benefit, some of which I share below. So I think I have come over to team warm lemon water, especially in the morning.

4. Freshens breath

5. Balances your body's PH

6. Nourishes brain, nerve and muscle cells


These are just a few of the benefits of drinking lemon water. There are many more. Of course there are some side effects of drinking too much lemon water, which I may cover in another blog post. I encourage you to do like I did and google information to see if adding lemon water to your diet is right for you.
